Sensor Zone Check Failing on Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo

Steps for when you run the sensor zone check on Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo and it fails, indicating that there’s a moving object within the sensor zone.

Before you start:

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo device.

You may need to move the clock or items within the sensor zone while troubleshooting.

General Information:

Alarmo is intended to work best with one user. Moving objects in the bedroom may cause the clock to not work as intended.

Example of moving objects:

Note: This list is not extensive. Other objects may be detected as moving objects in the sensor zone.

  • Other humans and pets
  • Devices with moving parts, such as analog clocks, humidifiers, air conditioners, computers, oscillating fans, some medical equipment, ceiling fans and robot vacuum cleaners
  • Objects that may move if a window is open, such as hanging light fixtures, plants and curtains

What to do:

  1. Check that the clock is running the latest system update.
    • Prior to version 2.0.0, the sensor zone check will only indicate whether there is a moving object or not. Later system versions will have an indicator of where the moving object is in relation to Alarmo to improve troubleshooting. Run the sensor zone check again if you weren’t given the position indicator when you checked the first time.
  2. Change the location of the clock. For example, if it was placed at the head of the bed previously, try moving it to the side next to the bed.
    • The clock should be placed on a level surface that is within 50cm of the edge of the bed and is no higher than 20cm above the bed.
  3. Remove or turn off the moving object that was detected in the sensor zone.
  4. Run the sensor zone check again.
    • Open the menu by pressing the dial (Confirm Button) once.
    • Turn the dial to find the Help screen.
    • Press the Confirm Button.
    • Turn the dial to find the Sensor Zone Check screen.
    • Press the Confirm Button to start the check.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the check.
    • Lower the motion sensitivity, then run the sensor zone check again.
  5. Lower the motion sensitivity, then run the sensor zone check again.
    • From the clock screen, press the Confirm Button.
    • Turn the dial to the Settings screen.
    • Press the Confirm Button.
    • Turn the dial to the Motion Sensitivity screen.
    • Press the Confirm Button.
    • Turn the dial to lower the sensitivity.
    • Press the Confirm Button.

Situation Not Resolved:

If you’re unable to get the alarm to stop due to other objects in the sensor zone, you can consider using Button Mode rather than the sensor.

If there are no obstructions or other moving objects that are causing the issue, your clock will need to come in for service.
